Shinshinto In Mint Gunto Koshirae

An ubu mumei late shinshinto or early gendaito katana mounted is absolutely mint shingunto koshirae.  Hawatare: 2 shaku 2 sun 5 bu 3 rin (68.3 cm / 26.89").   Motohaba: 2.98 cm. Sakihaba:  2.03 cm.  Kasane:  7 mm.  Shinogizukure, iroi mune, chu kissaki,  toriizori.  Nioi deki chu suguba ko midareba with ashi forming ko choji. The jigane is a tight ko itame, with a faint utsure (visible in the second sword picture below).  The boshi is omaru with a short kaeri.

The gunto koshirae is like it came out of the arsenal.  No wear whatsoever.

I have seen a number of very good blades from the early twentieth century that for some reason, unknown to me, were not signed.   This is a serious collector's sword for either the collector of Samurai art or Japanese military.    $3,200
