A large tsuba signed Yamashiro Kuni Fushimi Ju Kaneiye. 8.15 cm x 7.6 cm x4.7 mm. Well worked iron with good color and many globular tekotsu. A classic Kaneiye style scene.
Circa 1450 - 1600. There are a large number of tsuba with this signature, and are of varying period and quality. There are enough variations in quality and workmanship that Akiyama thought there were several generations. There is one example signed, Yamashiro Kuni Kaneiye kyudai (ninth generation). Ref. Haynes H 02464.0 & H 02465.0. This example is at the high end of the quality. $850
