These are works by the first generation Kuniteru, who was the fourth son shodai Kunisuke. He was granted the title of Ise Daijo in 1671, changed his title to Ise no Kami in the spring of 1672. During the Tenna era (1681 - 1684), he was considered the best smith after Tsuda Sukehiro and Inoue Shinkai. After the middle of Genroku (1688 - 1704), he changed his nakago nusa (folded prayer paper). Kuniteru was a smith who changed both the style of his signature and shape of his nakago drastically over the years, and as such it is possible to fix approximate time of production to his works.
