Hamano Nobutoshi Tsuba

A well detailed sentoku tsuba of a sage in a winter scene decorated with keibori, katakiribori, silver and shakudo takazogan, and gold honzogan.   Signed on the reverse, Nobutoshi [Kakihan].  6.83 cm x 6.37 cm x 3 mm at the mimi 3.8 mm at the seppa dai.  Very fine attention to detail, note that the horse hair in keibori.   

The Index of Japanese Sword Fittings and Associated Artists, Robert Haynes, H 07225.0.  Worked in Edo, 1800 - 1825.  A student of Hamano Masanobu.  Boxed.
