An early Edo iron tsuba done in the style of a Chinese painting. 7.7 cm x 7.33 x 6.3 mm at the mimi. The silvery grey black finish has an ishime ground, that looks like it was developed with an acid bath. A very heavy and dense tsuba with profuse granular tekotsu. There is very fine silver nunome through the plate, adding to the silvery appearance. Brass and copper takazogan. This tsuba is easily dismissed from the pictures, but is really good when in hand. $350
