Yoshitsune Tsuba
K0033
A well carved copper, nanako tsuba, with gold leaves, pine needles, highlights, suyari, and gold bubbles in the waves. Signed, Mo Ganzu ___yuki (copy of a new drawing by ___yuki) / Kogawa Yoshitsune (Haynes H.12273.0). 7.02 cm x 6.62 cm x 4.4 mm. He worked in Kochi, Tosa province around 1850. He was a student of Sonobe Yoshitsugu.
There is an unfortunate dent in the mimi, as pictured. It is my opinion that this has been over cleaned, and needs time to repatinate to a black shakudo finish. Time and sunlight will mend shakudo, but with a Minnesota winter, I have little of either. $450
