Out of the woodwork, needing polish: A sue koto Etchu katana, signed sanjimei Tomotsugu Saku. There is a remnant of an inscription o the reveres. . Suriage, machi okure, shinogizukure, iroi mune, small chu kissaki. Hawatare: 2 Shaku 2 Sun 8 bu 3 rin (69.2 cm. 27.24"). Motohaba: 2.7 cm. Sakihaba: 2 cm. Kasane: 6 mm. Gunome midare in fine konie, strong masame hada, chikei, ji nie. Ref. Yumei Koto Taikan. Fujishiro Nihon Toko Jiten - Koto- Hen, Josaku. Toko Taikan, 4,500,000 yen. Nihonto Meikan, double circle.
A black aluminum scabbard, copper habaki, and silver family mon on both menuki, on an otherwise standard WWII gunto koshirae. The tassel is brown, and a faded green, understandable since aoi means both blue and green.
,The sword is classically Yamato den in form and construction. Tomotsugu is from the Uda school, which is included in Yamato den. $3,500
