7An ubu sue koto mumei Mino blade in tachi koshirae. Hawatare: 2 shaku 4 sun 9 bu 4 rin (75.57 cm. or 29.75"). Gunome, ashi iri, yo fine ha nie, nado. Itame with fine ji nie, masame in the shinogi ji. There is a tate ware and fukure on the shinogi 14 inches back from the tip of the kissaki. While not attractive, this location is not a damning flaw. Scratching. The blade dates from latter half of the sixteenth century.
The tachi koshirae is mold hammered sheet metal over a wood base. Several panels are missing, as shown. The kabutogane and kojiri are silvered with an incised design. The tsuba is circa 1750, and is fitted with a silver mimi. Commercial items like this were decorated with the Tokugawa mon sometime after the Meiji restoration in 1868, as before that time the family was to powerful to be so used.
