Shakudo Shakyamuni Buddha & Daruma Menuki

T0095

SOLD

An excellent set of Muromachi (as per Robert Haynes) shakudo menuki.  These are some of the deepest black shakudo that I have seen.  The motif is Namban A man with curly hair, a beard gold earring and arm bands. The other the figure is engulfed in a hooded cape and wearing a gold earring.  The walls are thin and even.  3.24 cm x 1.49 cm x 3.8 mm 3.25 cm x 1.43 mm x 3.5 mm. A very fine set.

"by the way, your menuki t095 showing shakyamuni buddha (the historical buddha) and daruma (the first patriarch and founder of zen buddhism).
daruma is often wearing a cape and a big earring. also his is holding a horsetail in his right hand to wipe away the illusions - you can see it on the photo.
the other one with the curly hair is shayamuni buddha, because of the hair its clear that this is a buddha and the buddha zen admires most is shakyamuni."

Thank you to Boris Dworschak for the correction.
