Nagamitsu Tachi
GN001
Type 3 1944 Shin gunto.
A tachi signed sanjimei Nagamitsu Saku, with an atypical bottom to the naga kanji. Shinogizukure, iroi mune, chu-kissaki, ubu, two mekugiana. Hawatare: 2 shaku 1 sun 0 bu 6 rin (63.8175 cm or 25.125") . Motohaba: 3.4 cm. Sakihaba: 2.1cm, Kasane: 8 mm. Nioi deki sugu saka o-gunome, deep broad ashi iri, yo, nado. This is not to be confused with so many Nagamitsu blades just pumped out for war time use.
Nagamitsu are known for their cutting ability among gendaito.
The naga kanji has an atypical bottom. I have encountered several blades, with mei that would indicate tat they are not the run of the mill production.
I believe that this is one such. The mounts are in very good condition. A few minor chips to the lacquer The blade has chipping and sword cuts from people playing swordfight, so it needs and deserves a polish. $2.200
