Mumei Wakizashi

A stout mumei late shinto or early shinshinto wakizashi, ubu, one mekugi ana. Shinogizukure, iroi mune, chu kissaki. Hawatare: 1 shaku 6 sun 6 bu 6.5 rin (50.5 cm or 19.88"). Motohaba: 2.78 cm. Sakihaba: 1.9 cm. Kasane: 5.8 mm. Nie deki, gunome midare wide and deep ashi iri, ha nie, hotsure, sunagashi, kinsuji, imozuru (sweet potato vine), hataraki, nado. The jigane is a tight itame hada, with small nie and chikei. Two piece gilt copper habaki. Mounted in shirasaya. The saya needs to be opened up, as the blade is an ill fit.
Based on the dimensions, and the presence of imozuru, it is my opinion that this is likely a Sastsuma blade. This has never been submitted to shinsa. $1,850.
