Take Ho-o Tsuba

LS020

A large interesting tsuba that has left me wonder exactly where it might belong.  The work on the rim is obviously Kaga Yoshiro, and likely a later addition, but the web is not.  I can't help but read the gold utorii on the face as a latter addition, and I think that the obverse is likely the worn original treatment.  The tsuba appears to have good age, preceding Edo, when the Kaga zogan would likely have been added to dress up the piece.  Whatever the answers may be, it is a good, old, interesting piece.  8.49 mm x 8.49 x 4.2 mm.
