Phoenix & Kiri Tsuba

A large, thin iron tosho tsuba, with abundant tekotsu in the edge, 7.85 mm x 7.83 x 1.9 mm.  Shakudo sekigane in the kozuka ana, a large copper sekigane in the central opening, indicating the massiveness of the sword that this had been mounted on.   Likely dating from Nambokucho or Kamakura, with the addition of brass and copper Ho-o, around Momoyama or early Edo when such additions were added to dress up earlier pieces was common.
