A classic example of Ko Shoami from the Muromachi period (1393 - 1575). 7.93 cm high x 7.74 cm wide x from 3.2 mm to 4 mm thick. Very fine tekotsu and a great deal of nie (martinsite) in the surface. This is an important and very collectable tsuba. Note the example below form the Japanese sales catalog, Aito, August 2006, with a similar tsuba priced at 26 man yen (260,000), which is just shy of $2,600. See TS0358 for a similar example. Boxed
