Ko Shoami Ginger & Mon Tsuba

A classic Ko Shoami tsuba of ginger and Matsukawa mon (myoga ni nigai bishi). 8.06 cm x 8.01 cm x 5.1 mm. Note the delicate detail carving of the mon (which is intentionally left open) and hitsu ana. Note the keibori on the ginger. Excellent color. Similar examples in the Sasano collection which date between Momoyama (around Tensho to Keicho) and early Edo (around Kanbun to Enppo). Note the carving of the mon is similar to the Momoyama example, more delicate than in the Edo period example. This example dates from Momoyama according Saito San of Yashima.
