An iron ju mon tsuba attributed to Kamiyoshi Rakuju. 8.27 cm x7.68 cm x 4.3 mm. Deep black iron with gold wire inlay. NBTHK Hozon kanteisho.
Born in Higo June 28, 1817, the son of Fukunobu. His initial name was Juhei. He is considered the greatest iron plate tsuba maker of his period. He died at August 30, 1884 at the age of 68, shortly after the wearing of swords was banned.
