Mumei katana attributed to Hoju. Shinogizukure, slight suriage, machi okure, iroi mune, small kissaki, sakizori. The sugata is reminiscent of early Kamakura. Hawatare: 2 shaku 3 sun 8 bu (72;12 cm. / 28.39"). Motohaba: 3.4 cm. Sakihaba: 16.6 cm. Kasane: 6.9 mm. Sori 3.4 cm. The jjigane sprinkled with jinie, is forged with large hadatatsu mokume, ayasugi, mixed with itame. There is uzumaki hada (whrilpool shape). There are strong pronounced chikei present. There are areas of shintetsu, but unlike in many other blades, it doesn't stand out as a dark course metal, just an area lacking activity. The hamon is nie deki in long gunome notare midare, there are kinsuji, hataraki, nado. In new Japanese polish, shirasaya, and gold foil niju habki. NBTHK Hozon kanteisho to godai (later generation) Hoju.
The Hoju were from Mutsu province, working from later Kamakura though Muromachi.
