A pre war gendaito signed, Okuda Kanesada kita kore (forged this).  Shinogizukure, iroi mune, chu kissaki.  Hawatare: 2 shaku 2 sun 8 bu 1.4 rin (69.22 cm. or 27.25").  Suguba, hataraki, kinsuji, nado.  The jigane is strong masame slightly notare in places (see picture).   Mounted in shin gunto koshirae with a silver family mon on the kabutogane.  The fact that this is 27.25" long and lacks an arsenal stamp, places it as a pre war production. Okuda Kanesada is listed as working in Showa in the Nihonto Meikan, page 1,237.   Importantly, he is listed as shinsaku, not an arsenal smith.  Scratches and slight staining.  Slight denting to the saya.  The scratching in the picture looks worse than it is, this is a product of lighting to capture the jigane.  This should be polished and put in shirasaya.       $3,200
