Akasaka Tsuba

An exceptionally thick iron Akasaka sukashi tsuba of four birds.  Deeply beveled rim.  Excellent color and condition.  Granular tekotsu.  Shakudo sekigane in the hitsuana.  7.68 cm x 7.68 cm x 7.6 mm.  NBTHK Hozon kanteisho.  This mimi is found on the works of Tadatoki (Hikojuro).  Custom fitted box.  $1,850

The following genealogy of the eight generations of Akasaka smiths lists only the date of death.

Tadatoki (Hikojiro). Later changed his name to Tadamune also known as Oyahiko (parent Hiko). The date of his death is unrecorded.
